Ginger Peach Black Tea: Sweet Fruit with a Gentle Spicy Tingle
Some teas are all about balance, and Ginger Peach Black Tea is one of our favorite examples. We blended ginger, often called the "queen of spices," with sweet peach for a cup that's fruity with a mild spiciness. On a chilly late-October morning, that little bit of ginger warmth is hard to beat.
Here's where the tea comes from, what it tastes like, and how to brew a great cup at home.
A Ceylon Black Tea Base
This blend starts with Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka. The island's tea story began in 1867, when Scottish planter James Taylor planted its first tea field at Loolecondera, near Kandy. After coffee rust wiped out the island's coffee crop, tea took over the hill country, and Ceylon became known for bright black teas.
That brightness is exactly why Ceylon works so well here. It carries fruit and spice flavors beautifully without getting muddy. The base we use is a Pekoe grade grown at 4,800 to 7,600 feet and made in the orthodox style.
What It Tastes Like
The ginger lifts the flavor of the cup, while the sweet peach mellows its piquant, spicy edge. The result is well balanced: fruity first, with a gentle tingle in the finish. It's a perfect mid-morning tea, when you want something brisk but not too heavy.
How to Brew Ginger Peach Black Tea
These are the general brewing guidelines from our product page:
Use 1 rounded teaspoon of tea (about 2 to 3 g) for every 8 oz of water.
Heat fresh water to a full boil (205–212°F).
Pour the water over the leaves and steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
Strain and enjoy. Adjust the amount or steep time to taste.
Start at about 3 minutes if you like a lighter, fruitier cup, and go toward 5 minutes if you want more body from the black tea. Our tea accessories include infusers and filters that make loose-leaf brewing easy.
Make It Iced
Ginger Peach makes an exceptional iced tea. Brew it hot as above, using a little extra tea so it stays flavorful once the ice melts, then let it cool and pour it over a full glass of ice. A few fresh peach slices in the glass make it look as good as it tastes.
What to Pair It With
The fruit and spice in this tea go well with both sweet and savory food. Try it with peach cobbler, grilled chicken, or a fresh summer-style salad. It's also lovely on its own as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Sizes and Where to Find It
