Chun Mee, meaning "precious eyebrows," takes its name from the graceful curved shape of its leaves. This is a first-grade Chun Mee from China that brews a full-bodied cup with nutty and smoky notes.

History & Heritage

Chun Mee is a traditional Chinese green tea with a long history, and it was one of the first green teas introduced to the British. Tea historians trace its roots to the green teas of Anhui Province in the 17th century, and it is now also produced in neighboring Zhejiang and Jiangxi. The leaves are hand-rolled and pan-fired to achieve the classic Chinese green tea appearance, with each leaf curling into a shape that reminded early tea drinkers of a delicate eyebrow.

Tasting Notes & Pairings

Full-bodied, nutty and lightly smoky, with a pleasantly brisk finish. This classic green tea is good as an afternoon tea and also makes a very good iced tea. Pair it with stir-fries, roasted nuts, or a plate of fruit. Its sturdy character also holds up well to a second infusion and to a sprig of fresh mint.

Brewing tips (general guideline): use 1 teaspoon (about 2–3 g) per 8 oz of water at 175–185°F, steeped 2–3 minutes. Avoid boiling water, which can make green tea bitter. Adjust to taste.
